The step that will escalate the US-China crisis: Speaker of the US House of Representatives Pelosi is in Taiwan…

The plane carrying the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and her delegation landed in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. “Seriously undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” China said in a statement. Pelosi became the top US official to travel to Taiwan, last visited by then US House Speaker Newt Gingrich in 1997.

The plane carrying the Speaker of the US House of Representatives and his accompanying delegation, which caused tension between the USA and China, landed at Songshan Airport in Taiwan’s capital at 22:43 local time.

Pelosi was welcomed by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, President of the American Institute in Taipei, Sandra Oudkirk, and other officials. Pelosi is expected to meet with Taiwan’s Leader Tsai Yingwen tomorrow.

PELOSI: SOLIDARITY WITH TAIWAN IS MORE IMPORTANT TODAY

Pelosi said the visit honors the United States’ unwavering commitment to support Taiwan’s democracy.

* Our talks with the Taiwanese leadership reaffirm our support for our partner and promote our common interests, including advancing a free, open Indo-Pacific region.

* As the world faces a choice between autocracy and democracy, America’s solidarity with 23 million Taiwanese is more important than ever today.

* Our visit is one of several congressional delegations to Taiwan and in no way contradicts long-standing US policy guided by the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act, the US-China Joint Declarations and the Six Assurances.

EXPLANATION FROM CHINA

In a written statement released by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, “Sino-US relations have a serious impact on the political basis and seriously violate China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It severely undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

The People’s Liberation Army of China also announced that it will hold exercises and training activities in six regions surrounding Taiwan from August 4-7. It was stated that the exercises will end at 12:00 Beijing time on August 7, and real bullets will be used in the exercises. For security reasons, it was announced that ships and planes are prohibited from entering the areas where the exercises will be held.

21 CHINA AIRCRAFT VIOLATIONS TAIWAN AIRSPACE

Tensions rose in the region with the visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. In a statement made by the Taiwan Ministry of Defense, it was reported that 21 Chinese warplanes violated Taiwan’s airspace on the day that the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan. In the statement, it was stated that the aircraft in question violated the southwest of Taiwan’s air defense identification zone.

Referring to the news published by the Chinese state media that Chinese warplanes crossed the Taiwan Strait, the Ministry denied the rumors that Chinese Su-35 type warplanes had crossed the Taiwan Strait and stated that the news in question was fake.

HIGH-LEVEL VISIT TO TAIWAN AFTER 25 YEARS FROM USA

THREAT EMAILS HAVE BEEN SENT

The Taoyuan International Airport agency said it received threatening emails that explosives were planted at the airport to stop Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. Security at the airport is being stepped up as police continue to investigate the source of the unfounded threats.

In the statement made by Pelosi’s office regarding her trip to Asia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea were included in the visit program, while Taiwan was not mentioned.

Recognizing Taiwan as a part of its territory, the Chinese administration states that while it wants to seize control of Taiwan under the name of “peaceful reunification”, it will not hesitate to use force for this. In addition, the official contact of other countries with Taiwan is considered as a “violation of sovereignty” by China.

“WE CAN DROP PELOSI’S PLANE”

Hu Xijin, the former Editor-in-Chief of Global Times, one of the media organs of the ruling Communist Party in China, stated on Twitter that Chinese warplanes could interfere with Pelosi’s plane.

Journalist Hu said, “Our fighter jets must apply all coercive tactics. If these are still insufficient, I think it is appropriate for them to shoot down Pelosi’s plane.” Hu Xijin later announced that he deleted the said post after his Twitter account was closed.
