The balance sheet gets heavier in the flood disaster in the USA

It was announced that the loss of life in the flood disaster that occurred in the state of Kentucky due to heavy rains increased to 35.

Search and rescue efforts continue after the flood disaster caused by heavy rains that started on Tuesday, July 26 in the southeastern US state of Kentucky.

Kentucky state governor Andy Beshear stated at a press conference that the number of people who lost their lives due to the disaster so far increased to 35, and he expressed concern that this number will increase due to hundreds of missing people. Governor Beshear asked the citizens to be careful and protect themselves as the rainy weather continues in the region.

While the authorities explained that the rescue teams are continuing their work in the region, they stated that more than 50 bridges were damaged as a result of the disaster, and therefore some flooded settlements could not be reached.

A curfew was declared in the cities of Breathitt and Hindmann, located in the region where the greatest destruction was experienced in the flood disaster, due to the looting events.


Governor Andy Beshear has ordered the flags of all public institutions in the state to be lowered at half-mast between August 2 and 8 to show respect to the citizens who lost their lives in the recent floods in the eastern parts of Kentucky.

Heavy rains that started last July 26 caused flooding in the eastern parts of Kentucky state, while homes were flooded in large parts of the region, tens of thousands of residents were left without electricity and thousands were forced to leave their homes. Due to the disaster, a state of emergency was declared in 6 regions of the state.
