“The song is about the Vietnam War and how pointless it was. But that is true of any war. I dedicate the song to all Ukrainians. It’s a small gesture that I do from the heart,” said Sir Rod Stewart on stage.

The artist, father of 8 children, rented a house in Berkshire for a family of 7 from Ukraine and pays all the expenses. Rostilsav and Olena, parents of five children between the ages of 2 and 17, are the Ukrainians who received help from the artist.

As well as renting a new home for the family in Ukraine, the legendary singer has provided jobs for two other refugees on his sprawling Essex estate, one of them as a gardener.
