The Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus asked for help from Germany in the crisis with Turkey

The Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus asked Germany for help regarding the tension between Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean.

After the natural gas crisis experienced all over the world, the Greek Cypriot Administration took action.
The Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus requested support from Germany in the natural gas crisis with Turkey.

In Southern Cyprus, Parliament Speaker Demetriou asked for Germany’s support in the dispute with Turkey. Speaking to the “Welt am Sonntag” newspaper published in Germany, Demetriou said that Germany had good relations with Turkey, and argued that Germany had to use this to direct Turkey to cooperation.

Not content with that, Demetriou stressed that if the German government cooperates with Turkey, the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus can send natural gas to Germany more quickly. The reaction of Germany, which is preparing for a difficult winter due to the natural gas crisis, to this demand is a matter of curiosity.

Demetriou, emphasizing that the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus will be able to ship natural gas to the European Market as of 2027, said that with Germany’s help and support, it would be possible to take this period further. He also claimed that “the conflicts with Turkey over sovereignty areas and Ankara’s territorial demands” were an important obstacle in this process.

There has been a difference of opinion for years between the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, which dominates the southern part of Cyprus, and Turkey, regarding the dominance of the natural gas fields in the east of the Mediterranean.
