National Karate player Selva Nur Akkurt won the third place medal at the European Universities Championship held in Lodz, Poland.
National athlete, Altınbaş University Psychology Master’s student Selva Nur Akkurt returned from the European Universities Championship held in Lodz, Poland, with the third place medal.
Representing Turkey successfully, the national athlete expressed that he was very excited when he came to the city of Lodz, where the European Championship was held, because the organization was large. Stating that he competed in the 50 kilogram category in the championship, Akkurt gave information about his competitors and the matches.
Akkurt said, “This year, there were very successful athletes in every weight. I faced Romania first, the match ended 9-1. In the second round, I faced Ukraine. My opponent was disqualified from the match because he was running too much and I was promoted to the 3rd round,” he said.
Selva Nur Akkurt, who won the 3rd round match against France 3-0 and went to the 4th round, stated that she faced Ukraine in this round as well. The national athlete, who completed the match, which was very competitive, with a score of 7-8, stated that he did not give up the fight until the last second.
Facing Kosovo in the third place match, Akkurt won the match with a score of 3-0 and became the third in the championship. Expressing that he was very happy to bring success to Turkey in Europe, Akkurt said, “My motivation has increased to win better victories and I will continue my work.”
