While Unión wanted to stay close to Millonarios at the top of the championship, Santa Fe traveled to Santa Marta with the obligation to add to re-enter the group of eight.

The first part had few emotions. The field was tilted in favor of Unión Magdalena, who although he was not precise in terms of definition, he was closer to finding the first goal than Santa Fe, which had to see the departure of Leandro Castellanos due to injury.

The goal cry came in the second half. In an individual play by Wilson Morelo at minute 59, the Cardinal forward scored a penalty after being knocked down in the area, and at 61′ he converted the foul to open the scoring.

The controversies were not lacking: in Santa Fe they asked for a red card for an attack without the ball by Ricardo ‘El Caballo’ Márquez, but Wilman Roldán only got a yellow card and the VAR did not intervene in the play. Minutes later, the central defender expelled Jhonatan Barboza for a double yellow card and left the lion with 10 players.

The samariums turned to the attack out of necessity and for having the most player. However, the problems of imagination and precision in the rival field to find spaces and scoring opportunities persisted. And towards the end, Jonathan Lopera, from Unión Magdalena, hit Morelo in the back, which caused a red card and a new penalty for the Cardinals, which this time was converted by Andrey Estupiñán.

With this victory, Santa Fe reached 21 points and is partially located in the eighth place in the table; while Unión Magdalena continues with 24 units in second place.

On the next date, Santa Fe will receive Nacional, in Bogotá, in a match that will not only have the attraction of the history of both teams, but will also be a game in which permanence in the top eight will be disputed. For its part, the samarium team will visit Patriotas, in Tunja.
