Daniel Galán advances to the San Diego ATP quarterfinals

Colombian Daniel Galán defeated Pedro Martínez in the round of 16 match at the ATP 250 in San Diego (California). The Colombian, number 75 in the ATP rankings, won the match 5-7, 6-1 and 6-4 and advanced to the quarterfinals.

The game started evenly and both players managed to stay consistent. However, to end the set, Martínez broke Galán’s serve and managed to win it 7-5.

In the second set Galán took full control of the match managing to break all of Martínez’s services. It only took the Colombian 36 minutes to win the sleeve and extend the match to one more set.

The last set was just as even as the first. But in the final serves, the bumangués managed to break Martínez’s service to serve for the match, which ended up winning 5-7, 6-1 and 6-4. Galán waits for the winner between Brandon Nakashima and Denis Kudla for the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, fellow Colombian Nicolás Barrientos is waiting for the doubles quarterfinal match along with Mexican Miguel Reyes. The duo will face Bradley Klahn and Fernando Verdasco.
