President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called a possible scenario for the “invasion” of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. In his opinion, if Moscow decides to attack, then it will be those regions that have a strong historical connection with Russia – for example, Kharkov. He expressed this opinion in an interview with The Washington Post.
“I will say realistically, if Russia decides to intensify the escalation, of course, they will do it in those territories where people historically live who had family ties with Russia. Kharkiv, which is under the control of the government of Ukraine, can be occupied,” the Ukrainian leader said.
According to Zelensky, if Russia decides to escalate the conflict, then it will justify its actions by protecting the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine. He noted that the experience of the “occupation” of Crimea serves as proof of this.
The President of Ukraine voiced another possible scenario – the seizure of Ukrainian territories north of Crimea in order to ensure land communication with it and water supply to the peninsula.
Zelensky also said that a Russian-controlled government would not work in Ukraine, as the locals would not accept it. According to him, the majority of Ukrainians do not support Putin’s policies.
In Ukraine, they said that Zelensky is fleeing in case of war with Russia
