Police officers and DIICOT prosecutors seized over 200 kilograms of cannabis and buds, following two searches in Caraș-Severin that took place on Thursday. Two men were pre-arrested for high-risk drug trafficking, according to News.ro.
“Following the searches, an outdoor culture consisting of 97 cannabis plants, in different stages of vegetation, with heights between 1 and 2 m, in a total amount of over 150 kilograms of raw green mass, over 50 kilograms of cannabis buds (…), dry green mass”, the press release from IPJ Caraș-Severin states.
At the same time, the police found 5 grams of a substance that appears to be cocaine, facilities for growing and storing narcotics, as well as precision scales.
The cannabis seeds would have been procured from Spain and cultivated in a hard-to-reach and isolated area, surrounded by forest, in Domaşnea commune, Caraş-Severin county.
The network used sophisticated facilities to grow the plants.
“After harvesting, the plants would have been processed and prepared for distribution in an annex located near the outdoor plantation, to be distributed in Caraş-Severin, Timiş and Gorj, either directly or through intermediaries”, states the quoted source.
Two men were detained for 24 hours, and on Friday a preventive arrest order was issued for 30 days.
