From there he earns his rent,” he said.
CHP Army MP Mustafa Adıgüzel made statements on the coronavirus test carried out on passengers at airports during the press conference he held in Parliament today.
“At the beginning, an agreement was reached with the Presidency of the Turkish Health Institute, namely TUSEB, at the airports. And the tests would be done by TUSEB. But something happened. The Ministry of Health has delegated the task of testing to the company that operates this airport. For example, the test was carried out by the contracting company of Istanbul Airport. It’s interesting. Because, in the event of an epidemic, the Ministry of Health must carry out this type of screening and treatment in the country completely free of charge and under its own control. Our laws say so. However, we learned that in some build-operate-transfer airports such as Istanbul Airport, the contractor has transferred health work, namely testing. For example, this Kalyoncu was also tendered for this work. I’m talking about Istanbul airport. The companies Şafak, TRG, C-TEST and Sanimed also participated in the tender. Pay attention here, the company that took the tender here, received 250 TL from the passengers per test. 112 TL of these 250 TL are given to the operating company as a share. In addition, the contract pays the salaries of 30 to 50 Istanbul airport staff. What have we come to? The company that operates Istanbul Airport already receives rent and operating funds from the state.
“HE REFERRED TO THE COMPANY OPERATING THE AIRPORT”
Moreover, he even got into this little job, this trial job, and he takes 112.5 lira out of 250 lira from the passengers taken by test, and also takes away the salary of 30 to 50 people from this d job. ‘test. In other words, the Ministry of Health has officially transferred its activity to the company that operates the airport, a company that has nothing to do with health. From there, he earns his rent. In this context, he has not yet responded to our proposal. I asked for the details of this work and how the health work was given to an airport operating company with a parliamentary question.
“HOW DID YOU DO THIS WHEN THE LAWS IN TURKEY DO NOT ALLOW IT”
We repeat these questions here: What is the number and cost of the tests carried out? How much was taken from how many people? By whom were these processes managed by the Ministry of Health? Have similar requests been made at other airports, build-operate-transfer airports? How do you assess the fact that the company operating the airport both received a share of the testing costs and paid the salaries of its employees during the testing process? According to which legislation did you carry out all this process? How did you do this when the laws in Turkey do not allow it? We asked them the question in the questionnaire. We look forward to the answers to these questions.
