The online publication V1.ru stated that the editorial office, as well as the police, the FSB and, in a strange way, the committee of housing and communal services and the fuel and energy complex of the administration of the Volgograd region received anonymous reports about an allegedly impending assassination attempt on TV presenter Olga Skabeeva. The site notes that the anonymous choice of the regional editorial office and regional public utilities could be related to the fact that Skabeeva is a native of the Volgograd region.
It is alleged that the threatening letter came by e-mail and contained an “announcement” of the assassination, supposedly being prepared today. Also in the text of the letter it was stated that the “information was verified” and received from a certain phone – the number was given. Also, the author of the letter asked to “take action” and keep his anonymity because of “fear for his life.”
V1.ru writes that the specified phone number is registered in Kabardino-Balkaria and that the full namesake of the owner of the number heads the local sports shooting organization.
The organization told reporters that they had nothing to do with the letter, and suggested that it was someone’s bad joke. The editorial staff assured that they had informed law enforcement officers about the incident, but they failed to warn Skabeeva herself – they could not get through.
At the end of April, members of the terrorist organization National Socialism/White Power, banned in Russia, were reported to have been detained, who were allegedly preparing an attempt on the life of journalist Vladimir Solovyov, as well as on Margarita Simonyan, Dmitry Kiselev, and the same Skabeeva.
