Coronavirus in Romania, May 14. Less than 1,000 cases in the last 24 hours

Authorities announced on Friday 588 new COVID infections in the last 24 hours, detected after performing 18,255 tests.

  • At 13:00, the Ministry of Health will communicate the updated balance, with the new cases of diseases, the number of deaths and the situation by counties

In the last 24 hours, 588 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) were registered, 14 less than the previous day. 67 of the new 24-hour cases were from re-infected patients, who tested positive for more than 90 days after the first infection.

New cases were detected after performing 4,638 RT-PCR tests (2,505, based on case definition and medical protocol, and 2,133, upon request) and 13,617 rapid antigen tests.

On Friday, the INSP reported 4 deaths (one man and 3 women). Of the 4 deaths, one was registered in the age category 60-69 years, two in the age category 70-79 years and one in the age category over 80 years. Out of a total of 4 patients who died, 2 were unvaccinated and 2 were vaccinated. One of the vaccinated patients who died was between 60 and 69 years old and one was over 80 years old.

In the health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 875, 13 less than the previous day. Also, 150 people are hospitalized at ATI, one less than the previous day, according to data from Friday. Of the 150 patients admitted to the ICU, 138 are unvaccinated.
