The immunologist told whether gloves help protect against Omicron

There is a better way to fight viruses

At the very beginning of the pandemic, in all public places, people were required to wear masks and gloves. Over time, the mandatory wearing of gloves was abolished, and only a few groups of people continue to wear gloves. Experts explain that there is no need to wear them at all, but another remedy helps with viruses best of all.

Immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov said in an interview with Moscow 24 that it is better to prefer sanitizers instead of gloves. He noted that health workers and store employees are required to wear gloves due to the nature of their profession, but other people do not need this, and they are not useful even in public transport.

Kryuchkov emphasized that a person can transfer the virus to the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and eyes with his hands, so treating hands with antiseptics is extremely important. The immunologist explained that there are many studies on the effectiveness of masks, there is less data on antiseptics, but they should also work. For gloves, on the other hand, there is no evidence to support their effectiveness in fighting viruses.

The specialist recommended to wash hands after visiting any public places, including shopping centers and shops, as well as after traveling in transport and before eating. Kryuchkov added that it is also necessary to wear masks.
