When is Teacher’s Day, is it a public holiday?

There is only a short time left for the 24 November Teachers’ Day, where we express our respect, love and gratitude to our teachers. Teachers’ Day is not included in the official holiday calendar in 2022, as it was in previous years. On November 24, public institutions and organizations will continue their normal working hours.

Teachers’ Day, which is an important day that makes us think and understand the value of our devoted teachers once again, will be celebrated on November 24 this year, as it is every year.

Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated on November 24 every year, is not included in the calendar of public holidays. In addition, Teachers’ Day, which will be celebrated on November 24, 2022, coincides with Thursday this year.

HISTORY OF TEACHERS’ DAY

Teachers’ Day is a celebration day where various events are held to honor those who practice the teaching profession. Every year, 24 November is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in Turkey. November 24, 1928 is the day when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, accepted the title of “Head Teacher of the National Schools”.

In many countries, since 1994, every year on October 5th is celebrated as Teacher’s Day with the recommendation of UNESCO. The 5th of October marks the anniversary of the conclusion of the “Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers” held in Paris in 1966 and the unanimous adoption of the “Recommendation on the Status of Teachers” by UNESCO representatives and ILO.
