Health Minister Fahrettin Koca stated that the number of monkeypox cases in Turkey has increased to 5.
Health Minister Koca answered the questions of members of the press after the Cabinet Meeting held under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday.
Regarding the monkeypox cases in Turkey, Minister Koca said:
*So far, 5 monkeypox virus patients have been detected in our country. Filiation was performed on these 5 patients and their immediate surroundings were isolated. 4 of our patients recovered completely and were discharged.
*1 patient is in isolation. They are in good health, there are no problems. The main reason why it is not seen frequently in our country is that it is transmitted by very close and long-term contact in a closed environment.
* It does not carry an endemic risk for our country or a global pandemic risk.
Regarding the Corona virus epidemic, Koca stated that Omicron is more contagious, but has a milder course in patients compared to the first variants, “I strongly recommend that reminder doses be made. In addition, we should definitely protect our elderly citizens,” he said.
Answering the question about the personal rights of health workers, Minister Koca said, “We have prepared a new regulation. We are focused on ensuring justice and rewarding the effort. The draft was opened to the opinions of the relevant institutions. It will be published soon and will take effect on August 15. Problems will be solved more easily with the satisfaction of our physicians and health workers. (DHA)
