Meta will no longer require Facebook accounts for Oculus headset users

Some time ago, with the purchase of Oculus by Facebook, We saw how users of Oculus VR glasses were forced to use a Facebook user account yes or yes, migrating existing Oculus accounts along the way. However, this caused a wave of problems for its users at the time.

Among them, were the common privacy issues associated with Facebook and its practicesin addition to the fact that some users found that when creating a Facebook account and not using it, the social network identified them as botsrestricting their access to both the social network, which they did not need, and the VR glasses, which they definitely did need.

All these problems should be a thing of the past with the new change, and from now on users will be able to use Meta accounts for their glasses, which we remember, have also been renamed from Oculus to Meta, so that users who do not want to have anything to do with the company’s social network can avoid it.

No mention of any kind of migration has been made, although Meta accounts are not fully available yet, so it is possible that there will be a later announcement to this effect. However, it is mentioned that during the creation of a Meta account we can get rid of the Facebook account.
