Cashback of 5000 rubles for traveling with children in Russia announced

New stage of state tourism support program will affect 18 regions

The authorities are going to introduce a cashback for trips with children in Russia for parents whose offspring are in high school (grades 5 to 9). Applications will be collected by the school and sent to local authorities, and the money will go to the account of one of the parents. This was announced by a member of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development Alexey Volotskov.

This is a weekend trip with an overnight stay. The project will cover 18 regions of the Russian Federation, and subsequently it will be distributed everywhere.

Domestic tourism has generally grown stronger in pandemic times. According to ATOR Executive Director Maya Lomidze, the increase in the total domestic organized tourist flow compared to 2020 amounted to 30%. These numbers are expected to grow by the end of 2022. Moreover, the number of vacationers in the country is growing not only and not so much due to resorts. Most of the “forges and health resorts” in 2021 just sank in numbers, because they required QR codes to check into hotels, excursions and other public events were canceled. According to ATOR, the Krasnodar Territory last year barely “reached” the pre-pandemic results. But the Crimea “grew” by 30% – in the summer and in the velvet season there were no serious restrictions.

“In 2021, demand in the domestic tourism market was stimulated not only by the factor of closed borders (which dropped significantly in August with the opening of Egypt), but also by the cashback program,” says Lomidze. The refund of 20% of the cost of the tour has been extended for 2022 – until April 30 inclusive. We can say that the new 5,000 for children’s excursions is part of a unified state support for the once not very popular tourism in Russia.
