Ford’s choice for electric vehicle production in Europe revealed

Ford preferred Spain for the production of electric vehicles.

Ford of Europe President Stuart Rowley told reporters that Ford had chosen Valencia for the production of electric vehicles in Europe.

According to Bloomberg HT News; Saying that fewer employees are needed for electric vehicle production, Rowley said there will be severe layoffs at its operations in Germany and Spain.

Rowley said the Focus model will continue to be produced in Germany until 2025.

In the statement made by the company, it was noted that Ford is continuing the $2 billion transformation to be carried out in Cologne, Germany, for the production of electric vehicles and that the operation will begin in 2023 for the production of vehicles. .


It is said that the company plans to sell 600,000 electric vehicles a year in Europe until 2026.

On the other hand, the EU approved the takeover of Ford Romania by Ford Otosan.

Ford Otosan Netherlands BV, a 100% subsidiary of Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş., has signed an agreement to purchase all shares of Ford Romania.

While it is expected that a total of €575 million will be paid between 2022 and 2028 for all Ford Romania shares, an additional payment of up to €140 million will be made in 2028, the amount of which will be determined based on the capacity utilization rate of the Romanian plant for the years 2028-2034.
