The Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared a resolution on subsidies to manufacturers of “dirty” cars

Sanctions forced the authorities to soften the requirements for fuel purity

The domestic auto industry, in connection with anti-Russian sanctions, is likely to receive the right to state subsidies, including for the production of non-environmentally friendly cars. The corresponding draft resolution of the Russian government was prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The mitigation of environmental requirements, as stated in the explanatory note to the document, “will allow automotive enterprises to continue to receive state support during the search and replacement of auto components, the import of which is suspended or discontinued, with alternative components.”

Since a government decree was already adopted on May 12, 2022, allowing the production of cars of all environmental classes, starting with Euro-0, it is now proposed to extend the right to receive subsidies from the federal budget to all these classes of vehicles. And at the same time to subsidize the production of electric vehicles – for them to establish the same maximum subsidy as for cars with an engine capacity of up to 2 thousand cubic centimeters (415 thousand rubles per car).

Subsidies to the automotive industry are provided in accordance with the federal project “Development of the automotive industry and transport engineering” of the state program “Development of industry and increasing its competitiveness.” Until now, however, they have relied on the production of Euro-4 and higher environmental class cars.
